The Enlighteners

A teacher plays a very crucial role in everyone's life. I remember the poetry that our principal sir used to read to us in the assembly by Kabir Dasji.
"गुरु गोविंद दोउ खड़े, काके लागूं पाँय, बलिहारी गुरु आपने,गोविंद दियो मिलाय।"
which means that when Guru and God both stand in front of the disciple, he faces a dilemma to touch whose feet first. Then he chooses to touch Guru's feet first because he is the one who showed him the way to God.
Today, the means of teaching have changed a lot. Also,  the increasing access to the internet and mobile phones makes people think that they can just search for everything that they want, and there is no need for a learned person for a certain sort of information. A teacher just not only makes us an informed person but also significantly shapes our minds to lead them towards self-awareness and enlightenment.
The values that are taught to you in school remain with you forever. The messages and stories get imprinted in your mind and guide you whenever darkness shutters the windows of lights.
A teacher trains your mind to accept different thoughts and perspectives. I remember the words, "You being right doesn't make the other person wrong; be liberal." The relevance of these words increases day by day, as in today's world of social media, people tend to form strong one-sided opinions.
By acquiring knowledge, we can become an erudite person, but not necessarily an insightful and prudent one; a teacher makes you that.
We should never forget to respect our teachers and the values taught by them.
