Ten Years of Pehchaan The Street School
The journey of Pehchaan The Street School started in 2015, Mr Aakash Tandon took the initiative with his childhood friends Kanika Narula, Sam Pillai, Leejo Joy, and Monica Vamdar. He shares that when they first time visited the huge slum existing behind a WHO building in Delhi they all get taken aback to see the situation of the area.
The belief that every child deserves education and should not be deprived of it due to any economic or societal constraints drove them further to do something for the welfare of the underprivileged children.
Those who hold courge in their heart to bring change for better gradually lead the Karwaan to a world for all.
Initially the team started started teaching the children by going to their residing places in slum areas or on nearby streets and did voluntary work. With time, the residents also started cooperating, as they recognised the hard work putted in, and granted them places like temples etc to take the classes. With the support of various compassionate individuals and the sheer determination of the team soon the small initiative transited into a well recognised organisation with 1600+ stundents and around 500-600 ground voluntees, also there are a lot of people connected through online platform with it.
EVERY ACT OF COMPASSION NUDGES THE WORLD INTO A BETTER PATH.
As the word 'Pehchaan' itself reflects the purpose of the organisation, it aims to provide 'indentity' to all those children and their dreams which get crused under the burden of poverty and deprivation. Along with elementary education, Pehchaan also focuse on the enhancement of skills among students so they don't lag behind in any field.
As the organisation completely runs on crowd funding, it remarkably sets the example that together if work for good, we can surely make notable changes for the betterment of our society and in turn create a better world.
